Introduction

Cool Rand ("we", "our", or "us") is a 3D random decision-making web application. This Privacy Policy explains how your information is collected, used, and shared when you use our service at rand.cooltea.top.

Optional Account

Cool Rand offers optional Google Sign-In. Creating an account is entirely voluntary and is only required if you wish to enable cloud sync features (cross-device access to your saved decisions). You may continue using all core functionality — spin wheel, coin flip, dice roll, and random number generator — without signing in.

Information We Collect

We collect minimal information depending on your usage:

• Local Storage Data: When you use Cool Rand without signing in, your decisions and choices are stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. The stored keys are cool-rand:decisions:v2, cool-rand:choices:v2, cool-rand:last-active-decision-id, and cool-rand:default-deleted. This data never leaves your device unless you sign in and choose to sync it to the cloud. When you enable cloud sync, your local data is uploaded and then removed from your device.
• Cloud Storage Data (for signed-in users): When you sign in and choose to enable cloud sync, your decisions and choices are securely transmitted to and stored in our Cloudflare D1 database, associated with your CoolTea account. This allows your data to be accessible across devices. The stored data includes your decision lists, choice items, and related metadata. When you sign in, we also store your account profile information (name, email address, and optional avatar) for authentication and display within the app.
• Standard Web Logs: Our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) may automatically collect standard web log information such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. This is standard for any website and is used solely for operational purposes (e.g., monitoring, security).

How We Use Your Information

For users who do not sign in, data stored in your browser's localStorage is used exclusively to provide the app's core functionality — namely, to remember your custom decisions across sessions on the same device. We do not access, collect, or process this data.

For signed-in users, data stored in the cloud is used exclusively to provide cross-device access to your saved decisions and to enable account-based features. We do not use your data for analytics, advertising, or any other purpose. We do not sell or share your data with third parties.

Cookies & Tracking

Cool Rand does not use cookies for tracking or advertising purposes. When you sign in, a session cookie is set by Better Auth to maintain your login state. This is a functional cookie essential for the authentication service. We do not use web beacons, analytics cookies, or any other tracking technologies. We do not serve ads and do not integrate third-party analytics services (such as Google Analytics).

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Cloudflare for hosting (Pages), authentication and decision storage (D1), and related infrastructure. Cloudflare's handling of data is governed by their own privacy policy.
• Resend for transactional email (for example, verification and password reset). Resend's handling of data is governed by their own privacy policy.

Our footer contains a link to X (formerly Twitter); clicking that link will take you to X's platform, which is governed by X's privacy policy.

Data Retention & Deletion

For users who do not sign in, your data remains in your browser's localStorage until you choose to clear it. You can delete all stored data at any time by clearing your browser's site data or localStorage for rand.cooltea.top.

For signed-in users, your cloud data is retained for as long as your account exists. You can delete individual decisions within the app at any time. To delete all your cloud data, please contact us at cooltea311@gmail.com.

Children's Privacy

Cool Rand is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent age threshold in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
